The first forward pass in college football occurred in 1895 when Tar Heels Edwin Gregory and George Stephens connected on a 70-yard play for the only score in Carolina's 6-0 win over Georgia in Atlanta. That play sparked the idea from an onlooker, a young coach named John Heisman, to loosen up the game from what had become a deadly, rugby-esque scrum along the line of scrimmage. Ten years later, the forward pass was allowed as an element of football, and the game has never looked the same since. Noted Tar Heel football historian Lee Pace tells the behind-the-scenes story for the first time. Overview 80 pages 6.25" x 9.25" hardcover foreword by Mack Brown
